Small time magician is caught up in the enchanted land and was forced into a power struggle between the three witches.
Review: Mala prequel to The Wizard of Oz. It begins in 1905 with James Franco (Seriously miscast) play a con man / magician working in broken carnival. Through circumstances too dumb to connect the whisked away to the land of Oz. It is about three sisters who are all - Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), and glint (Michelle Williams). Theyre waiting assistant come help defeat an evil wizard. Also thrown into a flying monkey funny and a little doll from China - walking, talking of course. It begins with a small screen and in b & w, and (when it hits Oz) open the screen up and kicks wide color. It looks great - the color is bright and high special effects are great - but that's all. The story is slow, long and boring. There are plenty of gaps in logic, comedy is terrible and if there are these cute little lessons life appear in all Disney movies. This message is so awkward, even children, are probably obvious and stupid. Also, due to copyright issues, Disney had to change things in the movie. No ruby ââslippers and the jumpsuit horror of the original are now flying baboons look stupid. Acting does not help. Franco tries to be charming and cute, but comes across as obnoxious and stupid. Williams has nothing to work with, Weisz (unwisely) to minimize its role and Kunis is blank. I was bored out of my mind and I could not wait for the movie to end. Kids might like it, but I hated it. 3 |
